Why Discovery?

God chose to make Himself, His plan and His purposes known to us through sacred writings that we know today as Scripture or the Bible.  Sadly, many followers of Jesus fail to engage the Word of God on a regular basis and most believers’ knowledge and understanding of the Word of God is deficient.

Every follower of Jesus can know the will of God and can hear His voice by simply reading, studying and applying the Word of God to their lives with the help of the Holy Spirit.  As a local church, we are responsible to equip every believer for the work of ministry (see Ephesians 2:10 and 4:10-13).  Naturally, we also need to be equipped in our personal walk with God if we are to minister effectively to the needs of others (see John 15:4).

Here at Discovery we aim to do just that – to equip you for the work of ministry. So come join us in 2017 for a one-of-a-kind journey of discovery in God’s Word.

What is Discovery?

Discovery is a year long journey of fellowship, friendship, feasting and discovery in God’s Word.

Discovery happens once a week on Monday evenings from 7pm to 9pm during school terms.  The venue is the “The Living Room” at our Every Nation Somerset West church offices.

Each evening will consist of fellowship around dinner & drinks, an hour long session of Discovery in God’s Word and one session of reflection, worship, prayer and ministry.  The idea is to journey together with friends as we seek to discover the truth and relevance of God’s Word for us right here and right now in the 21st century.  As we work through different subjects and topics, we will come to know the transforming power of God’s Word in our personal lives.

1. When and where will Discovery happen?

Discovery will happen once a week on Monday nights during the course of the whole year. It will start in February 2016 and end in November 2016. There will be no Discovery evenings on public holidays or during the school holidays.
